UASHS Celebrates Philippine Flag Day and Independence Day

The University of the Assumption Senior High School celebrated flag day and the 119 th year of Philippine independence by displaying the Philippine colors and conducting academic discussion with the theme “Kalayaan 2017: Pagbabago, Sama-samang Balikatin”.

The celebration aimed to instil the spirit of patriotism and propagate awareness about the history of the country.

Grade 11 Political Science students displayed Philippine flags along the hallways to support the provision of Executive Order No. 179 series of 1994 signed by the former President Fidel V.

Ramos which states that the national flag must be displayed from May 28 (Flag Day) to June 12(Independence Day).

According to the students, simple acts such as hanging the flags is already a way of giving respect not only to the national symbol but also to the Filipinos and heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom.

During the academic discussion, teachers and students shared knowledge on the historical facts, trivia, and lessons about the Philippine flag and Independence Day.

The Senior High School community was also encouraged to write their reflection on the occasion
